Indoor Water Efficiency

According to the EPA, the average U.S.A family of four uses 400 gallons of water every day. From a recent study of California water use by the California Department of Water Resources, 47% of residential water use statewide is used indoors. Of that, 20% is used by toilets and 20% is used by showers. However, for homes that still use older toilets (which can use between 3.5 and 7 gallons per flush), toilet use alone can equate to 27% of household water. Similarly, low flow shower heads and faucet aerators can have a big impact when replacing older fixtures.
