Outdoor Water Efficiency
According to SoCal WaterSmart, residential water consumption is the largest contributor to California's urban water use -- more than 2.2 trillion gallons of water per year, or half of the annual flow of the Colorado River, one of Southern California's primary sources of water. Between 50% and 70% of California's entire residential water supply is applied to home landscapes. Depending on your existing landscaping and irrigation system, you may have significant opportunities to reduce your water usage through retrofits to your irrigation system(s) or usage of rainwater or gray water.
